Because of David's hard work at work, we got a little mini-vacation in Silverton, OR at the Oregon Garden resort. It was perfect weather...80 degrees and slightly overcast. The drive down was beautiful. We were just looking forward to being able to spend uninterrupted time together...just paying attention to each other and not all the million other things going on around us. Some time to relax, be schedule free and laugh together.
Wow...we're being lazy and not even feeling a bit guilty.
Woohooo! We're kid free (not that we don't love you boys)!
Dinner out - no clean up and dishes for 7 whole meals!
An evening stroll through the gardens.

Time for one of our most favorite parts of the trip...our couples massage!
We had to drink lots of water. They told us it was going to be a relaxation massage but they also did a little deep tissue work on us too. We are SOOOOOO relaxed! and very much in our happy places. You can tell...my eyes didn't want to open.
Getting ready to jump into the super hot hot tub after our massages. It was perfect!
We took a tour of the gardens next. This was where the little trolley that took you through the entire gardens picked us up. It was warm so we were taking a water break. Plus, we needed to keep drinking our water from after our massages.
LAME picture of me but David convinced me to pose - there aren't too many pics of the gardens. My allergies were driving me crazy so I wasn't in the take-a-picture mood. The gardens were beautiful though and it was just so nice to be outside enjoying each other and the outdoors.
We had some lunch downtown at this pizza/burger place that ended up being a pub. Kids, don't worry, we weren't drinking. We saw the pool tables in the back and couldn't resist a couple of games. Daddy won, this time.
We just thought it would be funny to take our picture under this sign - please find the humor in it.
We found an old-school movie theater downtown and decided to catch the movie, Night at the Museum 2. We haven't been to a movie in a while so we were pretty excited!
Getting himself psyched up for our big UNO tournament we played on our last night - that I won, thank you very much.

So, our last day didn't go quite as planned. We were very excited to be able to go to the Portland Temple - since neither one of us had been before and we haven't gone to the temple together in a very long time. We checked out only a few minutes later than we planned and set off with mapquest directions all dressed in our nice clothes ready for a peaceful ending to our trip. Well, somehow the mapquest directions brought us on a lot of back highways and we got lost to say the least. David tried to use his phone's navigation but we kept losing service and missing turns we needed to take. An hour and a half later, we finally got going in the correct direction. I'm sure if we hadn't had so much relaxation and peaceful time together the previous couple of days, we would have strangled each other. We wasted almost all of our temple time driving around lost and frustrated...I'm surprised David got a picture of us smiling. Of course this was after we changed into our cooler, comfortable clothes and had given up on the temple idea. Oh well...next time.
