I've been doing the same old things with Ethan during our one on one time and thought we would be adventurous and bust out the fingerpaints. I taped some butcher paper on the table, stripped him down to an undershirt and poured the paints on a couple of paper plates.
I tried to show him how to dip his finger in it and draw lines and shapes but all he wanted to do was grab handfulls of paint and smear it in one general location. He enjoyed it (he looks REALLY enthused in these pics, I know) but I think it will take a couple of times to get the concept down.
Danielle, I love your new blog! It's so fun seeing the boys change, and hearing your updates. Thank you again for stopping by last week . . . it was so wonderful to visit with you. You are an inspiring woman, and a true friend. Oh, here are a couple really good church books I would suggest: "The Uses of Adversity" by Carlfred Broderick, and "Mary, Martha, and Me" by Camille Fronk Olson. They are both short reads and are probably 2 of the most influential books I've read lately.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to add one more favorite book suggestion: "Eve and the Choice Made in Eden" by Beverly Campbell. It's a must-read.
ReplyDeleteSince Ethan likes pudding, you should try pudding paints. My sister in law makes a batch of instant vanilla pudding and then portions out tiny amounts and colors them with food coloring. Paint pictures on waxed paper, freezer paper, or butcher paper. It is still messy, but then the kids can lick their hands - which sort of helps with clean up. Ha!
